More choice than ever with digital identity – An interview with Daniel Patterson, Trulioo

At the most recent Future Identity Festival, co-located with FTT Mutuals and the Fintech Talents Festival, the very best minds in digital identity came together to discuss and debate the latest trends and challenges in KYC, cybersecurity, fraud, biometrics, authentication and much more.

Fresh from the Future Identity stage, we caught up with Daniel Patterson, VP of Customer Success & European Operations at Trulioo, a global identity verification platform. “We help our customers verify people and businesses and provide identity assurance through every stage of the lifecycle,” Daniel explains.

Trulioo’s customers include brands in payments, remittance, online trading, marketplaces, banks and a number of other verticals and Daniel emphasises that requirements around digital identity vary greatly between different businesses and use cases. “Any business that tries to take a one-size-fits all approach to their identity strategy is going to struggle,” he says.

Instead, businesses need to balance what they’re required to do by law in the regions they operate in, with the data available to them, and the need to drive user acquisition and ultimately revenue. This is not a straightforward challenge, but, as Daniel highlights, businesses today have, “more choice than ever before with what you can do and what approaches you can take.”
