At the Future Identity Festival, we sat down to chat with Petros Efstathopoulos, VP of Innovation at Gen. Gen is a new entity formed of NortonLifeLock and Avast. The company came together to focus on consumer safety and digital freedom online. Petros highlights that privacy is central to achieving this. “For people, privacy is a lot about control. Being able to control who has access to their data, being able to revoke access to their data and being able to select exactly what they share and with whom.”
Gen aims to empower consumers through a family of trusted brands – Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, Reputation Defender and CCleaner. Its solutions are geared to tackling cybersecurity, identity verification and privacy, so users can confidently live their digital lives. “One of our main goals,” Petros explains, “is to enable people to make the decisions that best fit their goals and interests.”
Petros explains how the concepts of selective disclosure, informed consent and revocation will be central to the next generation of digital identity. All of these circle back to the notion of, “users being in control of their data and being able to better protect their privacy,” Petros says.
