Sophisticated social engineering scams can ruin lives and business reputations…
We spoke with Darren Ford, Head of Financial Crime at Bupa to discuss the scary realities of social engineering scams.
Darren shared a frightening example, where fraudsters trick victims into spending their life savings on travelling to the UK under the ‘promise’ of a job with Bupa waiting for them, risking reputational damage to the business and modern slavery for the victim. Victims are left stranded, often with no money to get home, when the realisation hits.
He also outlines the importance of cross-industry collaboration to reduce siloed information as being imperative to preventing fraud risk.
