At this year’s Future Identity Festival, we caught up with Chris Briggs, VP, Identity at identity verification software provider Mitek. Chris tells us, “Mitek bridges the divide between physical and digital identity, benefiting the overall customer experience while enhancing online trust.”
The way in which trust is established, will vary depending on industry and type of business. “When we work with customers, whether in financial services, gambling etc, we get a good understanding of what they’re looking for to ensure the consumer is who they say they are,” Chris explains, “this interaction will vary across different types of business with different levels of risk.”
Chris describes how Mitek uses a range of data points and attributes to determine identity and measure risk based on each businesses needs. He goes on to discuss how the future of digital identity is evolving, emphasising the importance of frameworks and regulation to enhance widespread adoption.
“There’s a network effect. You need people who can issue an identity and people who can accept that identity in a common framework or network,” Chris explains, “With wider consumer acceptance, this network will grow.”
