The Future Identity Festival brings together innovation leaders from businesses in financial services, retail, entertainment, gaming, education, government and other key verticals, to discuss the future of digital identity, fraud and risk.
At the most recent edition, co-located with FTT Mutuals and the Fintech Talents Festival, we caught up with Ana Maria Anic, Head of Financial Crime at MoonPay, an online platform for buying and selling cryptocurrencies. “I love startup culture, that’s why I decided to join MoonPay,” Ana Maria explains.
She went on to share with us some of the reasons she felt driven to a career in financial crime, including being impacted by hearing the personal stories of those effected by fraud. “I had an opportunity to talk with an elderly lady who was scammed,” she says, “She lost around £50,000 because she believed she was happily married to a guy in Russia who never really existed. I thought, this is my way to go.”
Ana Maria highlights some of the key trends making financial crime both an incredibly challenging and exciting area to work in at present, from tackling money laundering and terrorist financing to engaging in the growth of Web3. Watch the full interview below for insights from the frontline and to hear Ana Maria’s key takeaways from the Future Identity Festival.
