Sci-Fi, AI and Identity – An interview with Russ Cohn, IDVerse

AI digital identity interview

Two weeks on and we’re taking a look back at the 3rd edition of the Future Identity Festival, co-located with FTT Mutuals and the Fintech Talents Festival. The very best minds in digital identity took to the stage to discuss and debate the latest trends and challenges in KYC, cybersecurity, AI fraud, biometrics, authentication and much more.

Fresh from the Future Identity stage, we sat down with Russ Cohn, Global Head of Go-To-Market at IDVerse to hear all about IDVerse’s automated identity authentication mission and the impact of AI on financial crime.

“I’m a huge science fiction fan,” Russ says, “when I think about what AI could do to overthrow humans, of course the fear is there. We have to have a code of ethics for people and businesses to subscribe to.”

Despite fearmongering, the benefits of AI are clear, Russ explains. You can train AI on data that is ethically sourced, to ensure no bias is present and, while this takes a lot of work, its vital to unlock the huge potential Generative AI has to bring digital identity to people anywhere in the world, with any skin colour and any gender.

“Do not dismiss AI based on fear,” Russ says, “You have to embrace it as it is the future.”
