Fraud doesn’t respect industry boundaries.

Stop Scams UK exists because no single sector can solve fraud alone.

Pritie Billimoria, Head of Communications at Stop Scams UK, works at the intersection of the three pillars of the fraud ecosystem: financial services, online tech platforms, and telcos.

Stop Scams UK members understand that their customer is also someone else’s customer, that the person opening a bank account is the same person using a social media platform and a mobile network. Everyone wants to do the right thing for their customer but the problem is structural. These organisations store data differently, categorise information differently, operate under entirely different regulatory frameworks, and span different international jurisdictions. When they come together, they don’t feel like they’re part of the same family. They don’t speak the same language.

What Pritie argues the future looks like is a test-and-learn approach with new ways of working, new collaboration models, and new frameworks for translating data across ecosystems. The goal is to turn raw data into actionable, shared insight that means something to whoever receives it and that can stop fraud before it reaches the consumer.
