The identity revolution – An interview with Rob Kotlarz, OneID

Future Identity Finance, brings together innovation leaders from across the financial services services industry to discuss the future of digital identity, fraud and risk. At the most recent edition, co-located with FTT Lending 3.0, we chatted to Rob Kotlarz, Co-Founder and President at OneID, a leading provider of document-free verification.

Rob founded OneID after doing some work on payments and digital identity in the Nordics, he explains. “I noticed how simple and easy it was to prove your identity using bank supported identity services, like the famous BankID and products like Itsme in Belgium, and I felt we could do something like that in the UK.” Inconvenient and frustrating identity verification can loose businesses customers, Rob explains, and a bank supported identity could go some ways towards streamlining the process.

The UK is currently undergoing revolutionary change around digital identity, Rob notes, with identities now set to be mandated under the Online Safety Act and the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework. “We now have a definition of what good is in the digital identity space for the UK market, we’ve been one of the pioneers at OneID working with the Department of Science Information and Technology on the trust framework which is now going through the DPDI bill to become an act in Parliament in 2024. Game changer!”
